The Cast Technician is responsible for applying and removing orthopedic casts, splints, and braces under the direction of physicians. This role includes assisting with fracture care, ensuring proper cast fit and patient comfort, educating patients on cast care, and maintaining casting supplies and equipment. The technician works closely with orthopedic providers and clinical staff to support quality patient care in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Apply and remove fiberglass and plaster casts, splints, and orthopedic devices
Assist physicians during orthopedic procedures
Monitor and report patient conditions related to casting
Maintain cleanliness and inventory of casting room and supplies
Educate patients on cast/splint care and post-procedure instructions
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
Certification or experience as a Cast Technician or Medical Assistant preferred
Strong communication and patient-care skills
Ability to work efficiently in a clinical team setting
