Job Description

 Primary Responsibilities:

 

1. May have to do small amount of medical assisting.
2. Maintains professional demeanor at all times with patients, physicians, and co-workers.
3. Schedules, verifies and confirms patient appointment times and dates
4. Reschedules patient appointments in the event of possible practice schedule changes
5. Responsible for pre-registering new patients over the phone before they arrive for their appointments.
6. Responsible for proficiency and coordination of practice EMR and billing software processes, tools and functionality as it pertains to the front office
7. Updates, verifies and confirms patient insurance eligibility prior to services being rendered
8. Handles all prior authorizations / pre-certifications for applicable medical imaging, procedures or services
8. Receives and distributes all faxes and e-faxes to the appropriate physician / department as necessary
9. Coordinates and organizes all medical record correspondence from both hospital and specialists for physician review when applicable. Attaches electronic patient information to EMR as indicated
10. Routes all incoming facsimiles / e-faxes to the appropriate department / physician as necessary
11. Maintains patient confidentiality.
12. Performs duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven work experience as a Receptionist, Front Office Representative, or similar role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Hands-on experience with office equipment (e.g., fax machines and printers).
  • Professional attitude and appearance.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Customer service attitude.
