EnglishThe Outreach Advocate provides survivor-centered, trauma-informed advocacy and support services to individuals who have experienced domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, and related forms of interpersonal violence. This position focuses on outreach, crisis response, safety planning, and connection to resources, with particular emphasis on reaching underserved, unserved, and marginalized populations.
Services are provided in accordance with FVPSA and VOCA requirements and are voluntary, confidential, nonjudgmental, and free of charge, supporting survivor self-determination and safety.
Provide crisis intervention, emotional support, and victim-centered advocacy to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking.
· Conduct individualized safety planning based on survivor-defined needs, risks, and goals.
· Provide information and referrals to agency and community resources, including shelter, legal advocacy, medical services, counseling, housing, and financial assistance.
· Accompany survivors to medical, legal, law enforcement, and court-related appointments when appropriate and requested.
· Assist survivors with navigating systems and addressing barriers to safety, stability, and independence.
· Provide follow-up advocacy and ongoing support as requested by survivors.
Additional Responsibilities
· Participate in on-call or crisis response rotation, as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including different cultures, identities, abilities, ages, and socioeconomic circumstances.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
· Ability to remain calm and effective in crisis situations and high-stress environments.
Minimum Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
· Experience working with survivors of interpersonal violence preferred.
· Bilingual skills and lived experience valued and encouraged, consistent with FVPSA guidance.
Pre- and Post-Employment Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in human services (consideration will be given to individuals who have significant 5 plus years in human services)
· Criminal background check and fingerprinting.
· Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, proof of automobile insurance, and access to reliable transportation.
· Negative drug screening.
· Negative TB test for infectious tuberculosis.
