Job Summary:

Facilitate effective communication between vessel and shoreside personnel by transmitting orders, coordinating traffic, managing dockside activities, and notifying incidents to ensure smooth vessel and barge operations.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Coordinate all vessel and barge movements within the assigned area in collaboration with dispatch, sales, customers, and on-site personnel.
• Communicate with vessels via VHF radio and dispatch software; input trip information, orders, and fleeting details to meet trip requirements.
• Contact vessel or barge maintenance and repair teams to coordinate necessary repairs.
• Arrange shore tankerman setup and collaborate with logistics management as needed.
• Assist with general fleeting operations and maintain communication with traffic coordination to manage trip details and horsepower assignments.
• Manage all barge movements in and out of the fleet, maintain daily logs, and assign daily fleet inspections.
• Control access to the gated facility in accordance with the Facility Security Plan and monitor all persons entering and leaving.
• Participate in required security drills and exercises.
• Perform screening and documentation aligned with the current MARSEC security level.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year of dispatch experience or towing industry experience; a college degree may substitute for experience.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Self-motivated with the ability to multitask effectively.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in operating standard office equipment, computers, calculators, and VHF radios.
• Ability to work a 12-hour shift schedule (7 days on, 7 days off) with alternating dispatchers to provide 24-hour coverage.
• Comfortable working in an open, busy, and sometimes high-stress environment.
• Capable of walking approximately 1 mile and adapting to changing weather conditions.
• Comfortable working around water.
