Shop Technician – Assembly & Pressure Testing

A well-established oilfield manufacturing company in Houma is seeking a dependable Shop Technician to assist with the assembly, preparation, torque, and pressure testing of oilfield components and accessories.

This is a hands-on position that is a good fit for someone with mechanical ability, manufacturing or industrial experience, and a strong willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Move materials and accessory items throughout the shop in preparation for work orders
• Prepare components for assembly and testing by removing protectors, cleaning connections, drifting, and performing other required preparation
• Assemble and make up oilfield accessories according to work instructions
• Assist with torque and pressure testing of completed assemblies
• Follow customer specifications, work orders, routers, and company quality requirements
• Inspect components and identify obvious damage or issues before assembly
• Assist with crating, handling, and loading completed assemblies as needed
• Operate shop tools and equipment safely
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on equipment used in the department
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
• Follow all company safety procedures and supervisor instructions
• Perform additional shop duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a manufacturing, machine shop, oilfield, mechanical, assembly, testing, or industrial environment preferred
• Mechanically inclined and comfortable working with tools and equipment
• Ability to follow detailed work instructions and procedures
• Strong attention to quality and safety
• Dependable with a good attendance record
• Able to work independently as well as part of a team
• Willing and able to learn torque, assembly, and pressure-testing procedures

Physical Requirements

• Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, pull, and move materials weighing up to 75 lbs. without assistance
• Ability to handle heavier items up to 100 lbs. with assistance
• Ability to stand and walk throughout a manufacturing and warehouse environment for extended periods
• Ability to bend, stoop, reach, climb, and perform repetitive physical tasks
• Comfortable working in an industrial shop environment
